Swim workout of the week
Advanced... 500 swim 300 kick (at least half without a board) 300 pull 300 in and out (drill in the middle...sprint from flag into wall out to flag) easy 100 Main set... 12X200 (figure out your send-off...usually 15-20secs rest) As follows.. 3 free 1 IM 2 free IM are hard Free are steady...about 80% 2 IM 1 free 3 IM 2X50 easy on 1'15 800 IM @ 12 min cruise but build each 200 3X 400 IM ( allow 1 min rest...negative split each one) 5X200 IM ( allow 20-25 sec rest ) Descend...start at 60% end at 100% 2X50 easy 15X25 on 35 all fast. 100 easy and out total...about 7000 yds. I did this long course on 1-20-92 to make this less advanced, do a 400 warm-up. mix up the strokes and kick a few laps in there. do make everything half and make sure to give your self at least 15 secs rest. good luck. let me know what kinda workouts you are looking for. summer
World Championships
WOW!!! The US kicked some serious butt down under. How many people think Michael Phelps can win 8 medals in Bejing??? I first met Michael in Sydney durning his first Olympics when he was 15 years old. You have to know that it was incredible that Michael made the Olympic team at 15.....most of the guys tend to be in their early 20's. He was extraordinary from that day...and has only amazed me more over the years. It is incredible to be able to dominate one Olympics....it is going to be unbelievable if he does it again. why??? because the sport of swimming is so demanding...so much training...so easy to find a reason not to do it. it helps that he loves to train. How exciting for the US.
