Lake Havasu Triathlon

This was my first Olympic/international distance triathlon and my second triathlon of any distance. Overall I felt good about my race, completing the 1.5k swim, 40k bike and 10k run in 3:16:31. My splits were 35:54 swim, 2:17.4 T1, 1:36:06 Bike and 1:02:14 run (due to technical malfunction they did not record T2/Run split).

This was the first day of a busy Tricats weekend. We hosted our semesterly Aquathlon race, which I baked some muffins for and assisted in set-up, lap counting, and clean-up. We had a fair turn out, 45 individuals or relay teams. After the Aquathlon I went home, ate lunch and got ready for my next event.

First Triathlon - Anthem Holiday Classic VI
The Anthem Holiday Classic on 12/8/07 was my first triathlon. I was very nervous and excited as the race approached, and very thankful that I was going with some fellow TriCats so I wouldn't be alone. The weather worried us, raining the night before, but we lucked out with overcast skies and only a couple light drizzles during the race, leaving the roads mostly dry. Sean (another TriCat) and I drove up the night before and stayed at Geoff’s (another teammate) mother’s house. This worked well as we only had to get up at 6:00am instead of 4 or earlier.
